Kawasaki History in the United States

During the 1960s, Kawasaki Heavy Industries was enjoying great success as a shipbuilding company. However, it soon became clear that it was time to diversify. One venture that would go on to prove itself particularly successful was the American Kawasaki® Motorcycle Corporation. While initially focused on manufacturing two-stroke motorcycles, the company soon adapted to American tastes by producing heavier and more powerful models. 
 

Pioneers of the Industry

A motorcycle manufacturer can’t succeed by producing the same models forever, and Kawasaki continued to innovate throughout the decades that followed. In 1969, the company launched its Mach III model and gained a reputation as the world’s top superbike producer. In 1971, Kawasaki released the Z1, which featured the most powerful four-cylinder and four-stroke engine ever put in a motorcycle up to that point. Kawasaki also worked hard to grow its distribution network and partner with more dealers. 
 

Expansion

Kawasaki’s runaway success allowed the company to expand its lineup dramatically. The firm released its first PWC model in 1973. Kawasaki’s first three-wheeled and four-wheeled ATV models came out in 1981 and 1985 respectively. Since then, Kawasaki® powersports vehicles have gained a reputation for being high-quality, affordable rides that anyone can use!
